Welcome to the Free Store for Teachers, Gresham-Barlow!

by Gretchen Cope

This week, Schoolhouse Supplies recognized an important milestone: our Free Store for Teachers program welcomed teachers from the Gresham-Barlow School District for the first time.

A Fun Week for Teachers

We kicked off the week with a welcome event and the shopping schedule was reserved exclusively for Gresham-Barlow School District eligible teachers and staff. Volunteers helped fill the shelves and greet teachers. Teachers filled their shopping carts and told us how excited they were to bring supplies back to their students and classrooms. Look through the photos from the week in the gallery below!

Why This Is Important

Over the past six years Schoolhouse Supplies has strategically and carefully built on our 23 year history and expanded the reach of our Free Store for Teachers program - increasing the number of primary partner school districts and increasing the amount of school supplies distributed to each teacher.

The Free Store for Teachers now officially serves all of Multnomah County. With this addition of the 7,000 students at the fifteen eligible schools and programs in the Gresham-Barlow School District, we are more than halfway to our goal of serving all of the Portland Metro area’s 100,000 public school children who qualify for free or reduced meals at school.
