The 2012 KGW School Supply Drive was a huge success, and we have collected enough supplies to send 10,632 kids back to school with supplies. Our Free Store for Teachers is stocked and ready to open next week, and we are still tackling the boxes, bins, tubs, and bags full of supplies that have come in from all over the metro area.
We’d like to thank everyone who donated, collected, drove, picked up, dropped off and gave back to their community this August. You helped collect over $265,000 worth of supplies and cash donations for students and teachers to use throughout the year!
Thank you to all our volunteers like our Pick Up Partners who logged thousands of miles on their personal vehicles; our donation sorters and stockers who kept our warehouse clear; our collection event staffers who worked on weekends; our Pencil Petes who entertained the crowds; and our data entry wizards who kept it all tallied. We could not have done it with out you.
Thank you to the supply drive sponsors: KGW, Onpoint Community Credit Union, your local Toyota dealerships, and the University of Phoenix Oregon Campus . We’d also like to thank the over 80 other collection sites who put out bins and boxes across the Portland area over the last month.
We rely on our community for its support and you all stepped up to give and give again. Schoolhouse Supplies will make sure those supplies get into the hands of students, teachers and classrooms to insure that every kid has the tools they need to succeed. And if you have more to give, we are always collecting donations and would love to give you tour of Schoolhouse Supplies headquarters. So stop on by, and happy back to school season for everyone!
