Master of Ceremonies: Carl Wolfson

We are excited to welcome Master of Ceremonies Carl Wolfson back for the 2018 Schoolhouse Supplies Celebrity Spelling Bee presented by Fred Meyer. Carl has been a popular Portland radio host for the past decade. From 2007 to 2016, he brought his humor and insight to Carl in the Morning, on AM 620 KPOJ and FM 107.1 KXRY.

As Portland’s progressive voice, Carl covered national politics and conducted in-depth interviews with A-list guests (Alan Greenspan, Paul Krugman, Maya Angelou), liberal legends (Howard Zinn, Gloria Steinem, Ralph Nader) and conservative counter-punchers (Grover Norquist, Frank Luntz, Pat Buchanan).  He also interviewed nearly every newsmaker in Oregon!

With a shared love of history, politics, show business, sports, and everything Portland, Margie Boule and Carl Wolfson are now the dynamic duo of afternoon radio – on AM 860 KPAM.

Prior to his broadcasting career, Carl was one of the country’s top stand-up comedians, specializing in current-events humor.

He headlined more than 400 comedy clubs from coast-to-coast and was a fixture on national television, appearing on Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, VH-1 Stand-Up SpotlightAn Evening at the Improv, Comic Strip Live and The Joan Rivers Show

His weekly news segments on Thicke of the Night (“The Wolfson Report”) and Fox Network’s Late Show (“Carl’s Camera”) were the most popular features of each show.

Carl received his B.S. in Communications from the University of Tennessee and his M.A. in Political Science from UCLA.
