Moms and Kids Visit Schoolhouse HQ (and meet Pencil Pete!)

August 1, 2012

On Tuesday, July 24 we at Schoolhouse Supplies had the pleasure of hosting three very special moms and their kids who came by to help out as we begin to prepare for the busy back-to-school season.  We welcomed Tabitha Rhodes (, Marlynn Schotland ( and Tina Kelly ( plus their wonderfully helpful kids, who came by our Free Store for Teachers to get a behind-the-scenes tour, and volunteer by helping us bundle and count pencils that will end up in teacher’s carts and students hands. Pencil Pete even made time in his busy schedule to stop by and say hi to all. He was quite impressed by the progress of this “VIP” (very important pencil-counting) crew!

Our excited volunteers also previewed our new kids community service challenge: Coins for Crayons. Throughout the month of August, we’re inviting kids to help support bringing art supplies to local classrooms this fall by collecting coins or new crayons  and donating them to Schoolhouse Supplies throughout the month of August. All participating kids will then be entered to win a free shopping trip (valued at over $315!) for their favorite teacher, to be redeemed at the Schoolhouse Supplies Free Store for Teachers.

We had a marvelous time with our moms and kid volunteers and hope this inspires more of you to do the same. We want to extend the invitation out to other moms and kids to see how they can make a difference for students and teachers.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Caitlin, our Community Engagement Coordinator.
