About the artist:

Painter, David F. Brooks, studied at Ohio University under the tutelage of avant-garde painter and founder of a Church of William Blake, Aethelred Eldridge (  In Portland, he has studied extensively with Phil Sylvester at the Drawing Studio

Brooks’ style has developed to combine elements of the abstract into impressions of landscapes and space.   He works primarily in acrylics and spray paint.  The painting for the Schoolhouse Supplies auction was created using Maimeri Brera Acrylics and Daler-Rowney FW Artist Acrylic Inks, generously donated by Dixon-Ticonderoga.

His work is in the family collection of Brooke Davis Anderson, former Director of the American Folk Art Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Brooks’ paintings have been shown at the Intuit Art Show in Chicago and at two Outsider Art Fairs in New York City, represented by Galerie Bourbon-Lally, Petionville, Haiti.

He’s had three solo shows at the Forever Art Gallery in Portland.  In addition, Brooks’ work has been shown at the Lindsay Gallery, Columbus, OH, Pi Art Gallery, Kansas City, MO and the Mark Woolley Gallery in Portland.

The Kingston Mines Blues Club in Chicago has his portrait of Robert Johnson hanging on its walls. See more of his work here:
