Calling All Volunteers!

inventory_day2013We’re rolling up the garage door today here at Schoolhouse Supplies as we prepare for our “busy season,” ordering, sorting and packing up school supplies. This summer we have individual and group volunteer opportunities, and we would love to have your help.

A Month of a Million Story Times

We have partnered with Alpha Broadcasting radio stations and Knowledge Universe to collect books for students in need this summer! Join us this Saturday at Bridgeport Village for our final donation event. After the event on Saturday all donated books will make their way back to Schoolhouse Supplies Free Store for Teachers. Come help us sort the donated books by grade level on July 20 from 9:30am to noon. Email Sara to sign up.

A Fun New Summer Opportunity – Team Captain

We’ll be packing 13,000 backpacks filled with school supplies July 8 through July 17. Several sponsor volunteer teams will be packing at the same time this year and they each need a Team Captain to support and lead their team in a little friendly competition. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to help if you are outgoing, have leadership skills, enjoy boisterous environments, and can communicate professionally with sponsors. Email Sara to learn more and to sign up for some shifts.

Help put the Free Store in Order

The Free Store shelves are fairly empty after a year of shopping, but we still need to do a sorting, counting and boxing up supplies we are keeping for next year. If you love purging, cleaning and counting, we could use your help. Email Sara to sign up for Inventory Day on Monday, June 24th from 9am – 2pm. This inventory day will also help us know what supplies to procure for the coming school year and ensure teachers can find everything they need when the Free Store re-opens this fall.

We appreciate all the support we get from our dedicated group of volunteers! We simply could not exist without your help.
